After the tour in the truck, we got to walk around and see some of the other animals.

SWATWalking01.jpg (311779 bytes) Dave talking to us about Safari West.

SWATWalking02.jpg (356227 bytes) In the aviary where they keep birds from all over, not just Africa.

SWATSacredIbis01.jpg (417582 bytes) A Sacred ibis.

SWATSacredIbis02.jpg (409751 bytes) Sacred and Scarlet ibis wandering around.

SWATGoldenPheasant01.jpg (302894 bytes) A Chinese Golden Pheasant.

SWATOryx01.jpg (266703 bytes) A scimitar horned Oryx. This animal is supposed to be extinct in the wild.

SWATWarthog01.jpg (387482 bytes) A mother warthog and he baby, hiding behind her.  And it isn't just in Disney movies that warthogs stink.  They stink in person, believe me.

SWATPorc01.jpg (389576 bytes) An African Crested Porcupine.  We were lucky to see this guy out an about during the day.

SWATWalking06.jpg (351161 bytes) Madeleine watching the tortoise walk by.

SWATCheetas01.jpg (340750 bytes) And here is the big draw, the cheetahs.  Two sisters, no less.  For $150 you can get your picture taken with them.  Otherwise, you have to hang out on the other side of the fence like this.

SWATWalking08.jpg (193365 bytes) Daddy walking around Safari West.

SWATGir01.jpg (122010 bytes) Up close with the giraffe.

SWATGir02.jpg (248251 bytes) A view of one of the close-in compounds for the animals.  You can see the green-roofed tent-cabins you can stay in if you opt to spend the night at Safari West.

SWATWalking09.jpg (182125 bytes) Our family posing with Dave in front of the truck in which we rode around.  You can sit on top of the drivers station if you want, and if you are tall enough.

SWATHornbill01.jpg (311272 bytes) A large hornbill that hopped around the main grounds.  He wasn't bothered by anybody.

SWATMacaws01.jpg (400389 bytes) The macaws again.

SWATServal01.jpg (303495 bytes) A serval, a very pretty African cat, about twice the size of an average house cat.

SWATServal02.jpg (351288 bytes) The serval was nice enough to pose for us before we left.  Up to this point he was buried in one corner of his pen asleep.

SWATWalking05.jpg (328396 bytes) Madeleine in front of one of the giraffe.

SWATWalking10.jpg (222947 bytes) Our last picture.  We were posed in front of the giraffe when it leaned over and tried to get a leaf that Madeleine was holding.  Up close with the wild life!
