Disney Vacation Part I - Walt Disney World
(To simplify things, everybody is referred to from Madeleine's point of view.)

Grandma and Grandpa MacWilliamson decided to take all of their kids and grand kids on a Disney vacation.  So early on June 10th, we went to the airport, got on a plane, and headed to Florida!

Madeleine and her cousins Jack, Lauren, and Kayla at Orlando airport after 8 hours on the air, a flight only interrupted by a sprint through Chicago's O'Hare Airport to change planes.

After a long day in the sun, cooling off in the sink back in the room.

Madeleine was only supposed to be washing her feet, but she decided to get all the way into the sink.

The next day with dad and Goofy (dad is holding Madeleine, Goofy is wearing the chef's hat) at Mickey's character breakfast at the Disney Contemporary Hotel.  Initially Madeleine was unsure about the Disney characters.

But after Minnie Mouse came over to visit, she got very excited.  She knew who Minnie was and brightened up considerably when she came over.

Then Mickey came over to say hello!

Every so often Mickey would come out and get everybody in a party mood, cheering and having everybody wave their napkins in the air.

Chip of "Chip & Dale" came over to visit, but Madeleine didn't seem to warm to outsized chipmunks.  I think she is more of a "Mac & Tosh" fan.

Sizing up the pancakes, which were also good, but not in the same league as the Mickey waffles.

Then it came time to cheer again, and this time Madeleine was ready and enthusiastic!

Pluto walked by and Madeleine called "Here doggy!" But once he came over to visit, she was a bit more reserved.  

Minnie came back for another visit (okay, we had a long breakfast and ate mightily) and Madeleine was happy to see her again!

On the tea cups at Magic Kingdom. (Magic Kingdom is the part of Walt Disney World that corresponds to Disneyland in California.) Madeleine laughed, screamed, and had a great time.

Back at Magic Kingdom later that day, eating at the food court, and soaking wet from being out in the rain. (Cool NetHack t-shirts like dad is wearing are available from Seven Deadly Productions!)

Our last day at Walt Disney World was spent at Animal Kingdom.  The first animal we saw was Pluto.  Madeleine is a little shy of stray dogs in parks.

On the safari ride looking for animals to identify.  Dad looks sunburned in the picture, but in fact he is only turning red from the incredible heat of the day.

Madeleine shouted out when she saw zebras. (Pictured here mooning us.)

Elephants made a big splash with her as well.

The flamingos were a little washed out.  Not as pink as their cousins we saw on the big island of Hawaii.

And, after the ride, we saw some very red birds.  These birds, unlike dad, are naturally red.

And our last picture before we headed off to the big, air conditioned bus, that took us to our Disney Cruise!
